Born and raised in Jakarta, Raja Nisrina Jasmine is a self-taught baker and the founder of Fleur by Raja. She graduated from Economics study in University of Indonesia, later figured out her interest in baking grows into real passion. From then on, she knew that she wanted to become a baker. She began to dived into the world of baking and patisserie since she was 11 years old by learning through the recipe books and Youtube videos.
At a very early age, Nisrina firstly commenced Fleur by Raja by baking and selling cupcakes to her friends and family as well decorating cakes with fondant for children. Nisrina strives to distinguish Fleur by Raja through creative design, drawing inspiration from various sources, most recently from the work of Les Fauves, a group of 20th century artists known for their fierce brushwork and strong color combinations. The pleasant ride of colors and mood of Henri Matisse paintings are the substantial source of Nisrina’s current inspirations. Nisrina operates Fleur By Raja, bakes both cakes and cookies and assists her clients independently.
Inspired by her own close-knitted family, Nisrina envision Fleur by Raja to go #BeyondBirthdays and have her creations become something that could bring together family and friends, whether it’s a box of cookies to share or a five-tiered wedding cake. Fleur by Raja only uses the finest and utmost quality ingredients as well as the decorations. It is essential that the creation is not only subtle on the appearance, but also delightfully tasteful.
Apart from her career, Nisrina does boot camp and yoga regularly. The genuine support from her family and the great bond she has with her family means a lot to Nisrina, as she spent most of her leisure time and every activity together with her family. Her mother also inspired her to go beyond and bold, helped her to decide most decision in her life, even to make a smallest decision such as flavor and decoration to her cake creation, as Nisrina described her mother as a tough and honest critic.
Putting her client needs and maximizing the client experience have become very important work ethics to her. Nisrina hopes that one day fleur by Raja could be able to change the perspective of the society about cake, that could be seen more as a statement piece, artwork and an edible sculpture.
Through Fleur by Raja’s creation, Nisrina aspire to transmit a message to the world that what is perceived as odd or strange can also be beautiful. Nisrina believes that beauty is present in everyone and everything, regardless of society’s narrow standards of what is beautiful.
